President Maumoon calls on the President and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka

While on a family trip to Sri Lanka, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom today called on President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe of Sri Lanka.

President Maumoon first called on Prime Minister Wickremasinghe, who escorted him to meet with President Sirisena. The three leaders exchanged views on how to further strengthen the bilateral relationship bet ween the Maldives and Sri Lanka.   President Maumoon also accepted the offer of Prime Minister Wickremasinghe to participate in the committee that is organizing the upcoming event in Colombo “Islam and Democracy in South Asia”.

This call took place in the Sri Lankan Parliament Complex in Colombo. The Principal Secretary of President Maumoon’s office, Adam Naeem, and the First Secretary of the Maldives High Commission in Sri Lanka were also present at the meeting.
