President Maumoon attends condolence event for his late brother

President Maumoon attended last night the official “thaubeen” condolence event held by Dhivehi Academy in the memory of his brother the late Hon Abdulla Hameed (NIIV). President Yameen, ministers, state dignitaries, MPs, family members and a large number of well-wishers were present.

The former President spoke about the character and personality of his late brother who had served in various government positions for over fifty years. President Maumoon said that the key to the personality of his late brother was his relentless endeavour to do his job to the best of his ability. The late Hon Hameed had served under President Maumoon as Minister responsible for the Atolls, as Minister of Education and as Speaker of the People’s Majlis for many years. Eulogies were presented by many speakers and emotional songs about the praiseworthy qualities of the late Minister were also rendered at the event.
